Okay, so I have decided on the universities that I am gonna apply to for their Ph.D. programmes:

London School of Economics & Political Science
University of Edinburgh
University of Durham
University of York
University of North Carolina
University of Tennessee
University of Virginia
American University
University of Georgia

My first choice out of all of those is LSE but I would be thrilled to me accepted into any of the others. I need to retake the GRE, for while all the UK universities do not accept the GRE itno their admissions criteria, all of the american ones do. I have a score of 1000 and i need to raise it to a 1200.

Tonnes o' stress in my life right now!

I got off work at 3:30 and ever since then I have sat here and am bored out of my mind! I am watching Samurai Jack (hahaha) which of course kicks ass. Not sure what to do. The problem with beeing busy all the time and then having nothing to do is that you go stir crazy. Anyways, I guess I will be fine.....

The past little bit I have felt that I am always living my life for the future, not the present. I have my thesis to work on, my Ph.D. applications to start, and all the stresses that accompany such things. Therefore, I feel that everything I do here is inpermanent since I will be leaving Boone all too soon...

Since I woke up at 8:30!!!! when I don't have to be at work until 11, I figured it was LJ time. This weather has been so nice, the total opposite of last week but I fear this is only a reprieve from the onslaught that we call winter. Even so, i will try to enjoy every last bit. Ever since my wreck two winters ago, I really haven't liked cold weather, mainly because of the threat of going off a cliff because of ice.

Lately at work, I have been taking my iPod to listen to music and other stuff on it. There is a service that i subscribe too, called Audible.com which posts different things like the current bestsellers or the New York Times daily headlines into downloadable form that you can use, kinda like books on tape. It kicks ass!

Your Existing Situation
Needs peace and quiet. Desires a close and faithful partner from whom to demand special consideration and unquestioning affection. If these requirements are not met, is liable to turn away and withdraw altogether.

Your Stress Sources
Is responsive to outside stimuli and wants to experience everything intensely, but is finding the existing situation extremely frustrating. Needs sympathetic understanding and a sense of security. Distressed by his apparently powerlessness to achieve his goals.

Your Restrained Characteristics
Clings to his belief that his hopes and ideas are realistic, but needs encouragement and reassurance. Applies very exacting standards to his choice of a partner and wants guarantees against loss or disappointment.

Willing to become emotionally involved and able to achieve satisfaction through sexual activity, but tries to avoid conflict.

Your Desired Objective
Seeks the determination and elasticity of will necessary to establish himself and to make himself independent despite the difficulties of his situation. Wants to overcome opposition and achieve recognition.

Your Actual Problem
Works to strengthen his position and bolster his self-esteem by examining his own accomplishments (and those of others) with critical appraisal and scientific discrimination. Insists on having things clear-cut and unequivocal.

Your Actual Problem #2
Depleted vitality has created an intolerance for any further stimulation, or demands on his resources. This sense of powerlessness, combined with frustration that he cannot control events, subjects him to agitation, irritation, and acute distress. He tries to escape these by stubborn insistence on his own point of view, but the general condition of helplessness renders this often unsuccessful. Is therefore very sensitive to criticism and quick to take offense.

sorry that i haven't updated the continuing saga of my boring life. cuba was fantastic and i miss it and the people that we met very much. i have started on my last, probably, semester in grad school here at ASU. i am taking one class, Seminar in International Relations, an independent study on the European Union, and my Thesis. all i have done on my thesis is ask Dr. Barnes to be my thesis advisor and have the barest inkling of what i am going to write about.

I had to buy a new laptop. my old Powerbook G3's screen finally fucked up and now is a solid grey colour all the time. so because of that, i went ahead to bought the new Powerbook G4. It has 1.5 Ghz processor, 512 Kb of RAM, 80 GB hard drive. it is soooo niiice! the problem is that i am soo in debt to my parents. ohh well....

oh and beth is such a hottie ;)

Hola, mi companeros. This post is coming from the computer at the Hotel Presidente in beautiful Havana, Cuba. I absolutely love it here except for a few minor things such as the fucking heat and humidity (92 High w/ 104 heat index) and parts of the city smell from an antiquated sewer system. I am staying with 3 other ppl in what is called la casa particular. It is basically an apt. that rents out its space to foreigners and tourists that wish to see more of the culture than you would staying in one of the beautiful hotels. The food is fucking fantastic! Rum is extremely cheap (a bottle of Havana Club anejo costs $3.50). The other people that is with us tends to drink for a bit and then go to the Malecon tpo hang out and ppl watch. The Malecon is a seawall built with American money during the Republic, before the Cuban Revolution.

We are learning many things about how Cuban culture, economics, and politics work. There are really two economies; the peso one that the government subsidizes, and the dollar one which sustains the tourist industry. It is complicated so ask me later when I get back.

My fucking camera doesn't work anymore so I only got a couple of pictures taken. I'm going to try to get one here.

I miss all the people back home alot, and I have only been here a week.

Ok see ya

Hasta la victoria siempre
